Description
The urban environment is an expression of human needs and desires, situated within complex and unique ecosystems.. It is an experience that you go through every day with your 5 senses, from going into spaces through an opening, listening to people talking or car honking on the streets to the tall and exquisite buildings you see spanning across our vernacular landscape. These items are familiar imageries etched in every human’s memory overtime. It becomes an organic web of multiverse influences and experiences embedded in layers of time of human existence.
Traditional architecture elements such as a door once invested in physical heft has turned into a dematerialised zone through technology such as body scanners. Different people may have different ideas of a door, for an example, an average adult would think of a typically-functioned door while a child may take a door at his own accord out of his imagination of what a door can be. With the production of new realities through Augmented Reality (AR) interactions involving already existing elements like the door or buildings, objects and other familiar items, can we utilise the city as a medium for reinvention where ideas may no longer bounded by space, time or even gravity?
The idea of a shared reality can be attributed to a shared urban experience, reinforced daily by certain nuances that become habits. These habits though, exist as relatively individual realities that remain hidden and embedded only in the consciousness of the average citizen. This project will allow the city to truly be a customised and shared reality allowing citizens to leave a part of themselves in the city becoming more than just observers but participants. It will allow us to study and examine a person’s thoughts and behaviours interacting within a space by identifying multiple elements that constitute within architecture – a sampling which then be stored and archived in a digital space called the Archi-Cloud.
This participatory environment hopes to maximise our capabilities collectively in contributing to our society. It may help us to stretch our thinking beyond technology in our pursuit of innovative solutions to shape the world of tomorrow.
